Hi!
We get this in a fresh moose image, on OSX:
This is really a pity. This problem is so important, that we may directly output a roassal visualization in a separate window, bypassing Athens and directly using Cairo on SDL.
Cheers, Alexandre
Indeed. I noticed this, too.
But, I do not know what to do about it.
Just to avoid going in the tool issue again. Could you reproduce this problem on a plain Pharo3 + Roassal image? Then we can announce the image on the Pharo mailing list and see if we can get help.
Cheers, Doru

Maybe there is a reason to use Spec and Pharo UI for drop down lists and buttons?
Labels is Rossal are important without a doubt, but for me, Roassal is graph builder, not UI builder.

I see what you mean, but Spec is not the solution for all these issues. Sometimes you need labels on nodes or edges and these suffer from the same font issues :-(

Yes, that’s why I’ve wrote that labels are important anyway.

Sure, we highly welcome the effort to integrate Roassal in Spec. A menu in Roassal is simply a label that has a callback behind. Much much simpler than what Spec offers.

Yes, I know. I’m just pushing towards rich infrastructure. I think I’ll try to do something similar in spec, and let you know if it will work.

Alexandre, would that work if we use two different FreeType fonts: one for Morphic, one for Roassal?
I remember Igor saying something about font caching problems.

do you think that it will solve your problem? I do not think so. I will just make the system more complex. You should not have a direct dependency to SDL else you will break the idea behind OS window. What will happen if the platform does not have SDL installed like my machine? The solution is to try to get a reproducible case else how can we try to fix when it does not happen on our machines and also to try to see if using a different fonts is actually resolving the problems.
Stef
Alex please pay attention that your end-users should not be impacted by the different libraries you will be using For example I doubt that synectique want to impose to its clients to install SDL2. So this would kill Roassal for us.
