Strings are shortened even when not necessary.

I can't figure out a way to scroll through a long (2000+) list of longish strings. I tried the transcript too, but it only shows the last few hundred. Am I missing an easy way? Could the strings in the inspector only be shortened as much as necessary a la Mac Finder?
Thanks!

Hi,
I would like this behavior, too. Unfortunately, I did not find a way to do this trimming. We would surely need help. Interested :)?
