Hi Tudor,
Thanks for your answer. I have been looking at Moose this weekend and
despite of being what I would love to use, it seems too targeted to
developers at this moment. I will go first with a more general
visualization software like profuse or processing, hoping to learn
enough to some day make contributions to data viz in Moose. By the way
I have seen that the galleries of that projects have thumbnails linked
to full size images. Should be good to make this in the Visual Hall of
Moose also.

Whether Moose is what you want depends on the requirements. First, you
should understand that Moose is a platform targeted to developers.
Second, when you go into new data, the questions are always about
format and size. Modeling data is typically not hard, especially at
first, but scalability can be an issue.
Also, when going towards analysis of business data you quickly get
into the area of business intelligence tools (i.e., data cubes).
