Since there is that arrow pointing out to the right, there is a lot of room
beneath that where you could have a tab per category - labelled with the
shortcut letter.

do so after moving the selection to the first
of the implementors.
I am not sure I understand this part. Are you clicking on the
"Implementors" label, or on an element in the list. The latter should work,
the former should not.
Why should that not be allowed? If you don't want to clutter the UI, the
arrow could perhaps be shown on hover? After clicking on an element of the
list, I can click on the implementors right-arrow.
