This is currently not possible because the information of what items are visible is only a rendering artifact. But, it would be a good idea to make this available in a port of the list. As for filtering the map, this is not a wanted feature. The idea of the map is to be a map :). It is expected that the amount of classes in the meta-model is typically small, and thus they fit in one window without (much) scrolling.
