zOrder and nesting in mondrian

hi Doru! The zOrder is a bit hell time to time. You said that the canvas use the translation to display inner nodes and edges. But this implies an order when rendering the nodes. The parent has to be rendered before its children. But with the zOrder, this order may not be preserved. Therefore, I think we have to deal with absolute bounds all the way. Quadtree in Mondrian

Hi! Thanks to Simon, there is a MOQuadTree class and its tests in Mondrian. Quadtree is a tree data structure that is used to partition a two dimensional space by recursively subdividing it into four quadrants or regions. We could imagine plenty of new caches using quad trees. I haven't seen any complain about speed anymore. However, I feel you restraint _yourself_ from pushing Mondrian to its limits :-) If you experience any slowdown, please keep a description of what you have done before changing your visualization. no overrides

Hi, Please try to avoid overrides in your packages. It makes integration impossible. Overrides can be useful when you do not have access to the base code. But, in the case of Moose you do have access. Please, raise the point and discuss about it if you are unsure of the change. You will be surprised how often it is actually easy to change the base code, or it is easy to find another solution. Grease and Mondrian

Hi! Currently, Mondrian works only on Pharo (I do not have much interest in seeing it in Squeak, even though I am not against). Should Mondrian use Grease? I have the feeling that we should not over-engineer Mondrian based on an assumption that is not verifiable currently (that Mondrian will be ported to a different Smalltalk). I will remove from Mondrian all reference of Grease. Error handling in mondrian

Hi! The new version of Mondrian should make some of us happy. Before displaying the view, using the #open method, the view is rendered in a non displayed form. This means that if there is an error in your script, you will have a debugger instead of a freeze of the image. This is something I should have done at least 1 year ago. But at least, now this is done. If you have a scenario that freezes the image, please let me know. This is really annoying. Hi Alex, I would need your help in introducing the ChildrenShape. Without this, the FormsBuilder is highly underutilized. The problem I have is that currently the drawing of the nested graphs is handled on the Figure side, while it should be handled by the Shape. So, I would need your help to move this behavior while still preserving the caching logic. The ChildrenShape should then override the display:on: to display these elements. Would you have time to look into this? Orion Framework

dsm failing tests

Hi, 4 DSM tests fail in the latest version: http://hudson.moosetechnology.org/job/moose-latest-dev/272/testReport/ I checked a bit, and: - testAllDirectCycles: it looks like the order of the detected direct cycles is not quite correct, but the content of these cycles is (so, in my image allDirectCycles first is packE and packF) - I could not figure out what the other problems are. epsilon parser not

Hi, I went quickly through the PetitJava implementation and I stumbled across the keywords implementation. I would propose a simpler solution: keyword ^ (arrayOfKeywords inject: PPEpsilonParser new not into: [:p :key | p / key asParser ]) token trimBlanks . Now the question is if it makes sense to have a separate parser class equivalent to PPEpsilonParser new not. If yes, what would a good name be? another speed improvement

Hi, I committed another small change that has a significant impact on the speed of Groups and especially the Moose Finder. We used to have: RuntimeStorage>>elements ^self asArray Now we have RuntimeStorage>>elements ^elements In other words, we are not returning an Array but the original OrderedCollection. This makes up for a significant speed improvement when having large models. Tests are green, but if you encounter problems, please let me know. In any case, I noticed that we are actually using the storage of a group in a wrong way. We should always use the storage which is already a collection instead of directly using the entities of a group.
