In Pier the resources are actually stored in the file system, not in
the image (in the files directory).
But, I have never tried to load big resources.
At the moment, I used moose.unibe.ch/resources/ that is situated in
sercives/MoosePage/resources/ for uploading large files. For example,
this is where the case studies are. It is not accessible from outside
UniBe for the moment, but we should open it for ftp (I just do not
know how to do that).

At the moment it is not backed up by Pier. So, if you delete the file
from Pier, it will get deleted from the file system.

The external files are not backup up by Pier. But in the case of the
Moose page they are backed up by the backup of the macamis machine
done by Marcus.
