Hi there!
I'd like to ask Pier users what kind of tools could be useful in order to
easily maintain their wiki (something like some reporting tools, specific
search queries and so on...). We (me and a colleague) will
work on this subject and try to make Pier's administrators life easier
;), with the help of Stef Ducasse. We have already some ideas but any
other useful ideas are welcome.
In the end, we would like to define an advanced query component for Pier.
By the way, Lukas, you said that you have already
done some work on a previous query component but you lacked the time
to finish it. Can you send us what you have done or at least give us
some hints? Thanks in advance.

The following is all not query related
- if the kernel mutex is once a again fucked, replace it with a new one
- bring back the in-place-edit-command
- diff/cvs annotate. And please tree based, not of line based.
As for query engine, well it has to compete with google:
Enter two search terms and it finds what you are looking for.

Scenario one:
I'm a high-school teacher and I want to use pier (my wife did that
with swiki during years)
I want to lock all the pages the kids in my school and in the class
CME1 edited.
Or I want to unlock.
So I go to the admin page and I assemble a simple query.
Then the system shows me: a tabel with the links
I could select one link and see why this kids have 35 images on the
web page (I could rank the pages
resulting of a query by one property)
Then I compose somehow that I want to do one the pages/element I got.
I want to select all or a part and perform a command.
Do you see why the query engine on Pier element using meta-
information will always beat google?
I think that once we get this infrastructure in place Pier will be
extremely useful.

Pier-Unix-Security and as far as I know also Spielverderber ACL
Security can define permissions (lock/unlock and much more)
recursively on a structure.
Of course it would be more powerful to be able to execute comands on
arbitrary sets of structures.

there are several sources (an I am sure there are more), but they are
all very old and require significant work to make it load and run:
- A group of students wrote sort of a refactoring engine, it can be
loaded from <http://kilana.unibe.ch/SW2NKDS>.
- Earlier versions of Magritte (e.g. see Magritte-Model.150) had a
parser (MARelationParser) for a constraint language.
- Erlier versions of Magritte used this contraint language for
searching in Pier (e.g. PRSearchWidget in Pier-Seaside.lr.26).
- A longer time there was the beginning of a visual interface (like
the Apple Finder Search) in Pier, but I can find the version right
now. It must be somewhere in Pier-Seaside.lr ...
All versions given here are just the first version I found with the
given code, for actual usage you have to look for the latest version
for yourself ;-)
