If you browse to "/Environment" -- a special
hidden page (sort of
a meta-page) being used to layout Pier -- you are able to
configure your application from the web without the need of
subclassing.
I don't understand how it would be used to layout pier; it seems
to be simply the wiki nested entirely in the content pane of the
wiki.
yes in a view mode
but if you edit it, you can reorganize widgets... with the wiki
syntax...
Indeed, it is a bit hard to describe those meta-levels with words.
Maybe it is the easiest if you just edit that page. Take care not to
remove the +Contents+ reference, else you are lost without having the
Squeak image ready.
Maybe you want to start by adding a string to the top or botton of
that page and then browse around your wiki and look for differences?
Another thing that is probably not well known is that you might add a
new page called 'Environment' anywhere in your wiki to get a
completely different widget-composition within that part.
I am thinking about slightly redesigning the beast: I don't like the
method #createEnvironmentFor: on the class-side of PRPierFrame. I
remember having added it there in a rush to get the thing ready for a
demo half a year ago. It should be probably moved into the structure
or even the kernel and create it lazily. This would also give a
better stability in case you accidently delete it. I will give a try
tonight.
Cheers,
Lukas
PS: If you have FireFox on your machine you can jump to a similar
meta-level within your web-browser by pointing it to <chrome://
browser/content/browser.xul> ;-)
