This is what we're using currently (VWRAP is a
virtual worlds protocol group
for the IETF).
Seems to me that this functionality (and more) would be a useful alternate
default for Pier.
Sure, if somebody knowledgeable implements it. I never heard about
IETF, VWRAP, ...
