With presentations on various APL topics, the group discusses and explores various applications of APL. APL (A Programming Language) was originally conceived as a mathematical/logical notation, developed in the 1960s by Kenneth E. Iverson, a young Harvard lecturer, but came to be used as a programming language. The power of APL operators/functions is due to their automatic data structure penetration and special operators. This eliminates the need for many control structures. Nested data structures (nested arrays) were added with the 2nd APL generation, making it the ideal tool to process data from relational databases where SQL reaches its limits. The next APL Lab will have a presentation on "Conway's Game of Life" by Hans Peter Moser. It will be held on *November 12th* in German. Unlike many prior models that release weights without reproducible data pipelines or regard for content-owner rights, Apertus models are pretrained exclusively on openly available data, retroactively respecting robots.txt URL exclusions and filtering for non-permissive, toxic, and personally identifiable content. To mitigate risks of memorization, we adopt the Goldfish objective during pretraining, strongly suppressing verbatim recall of data while retaining downstream task performance. The Apertus models also expand multilingual coverage, training on 15T tokens from over 1800 languages, with ~40% of pretraining data allocated to non-English content. Released at 8B and 70B scales, Apertus approaches state-of-the-art results among fully open models on multilingual benchmarks, rivalling or surpassing open-weight counterparts. Beyond model weights, we release all scientific artifacts from our development cycle with a permissive license, including data preparation scripts, checkpoints, evaluation suites, and training code, enabling transparent audit and extension. The FOSD Meeting is a yearly informal meeting that aims to bring together the community of researchers working on feature-oriented software development, including but not limited to product lines, software variability, configuration management, and software architecture. The main objective is that researchers at different career stages (including undergraduate and early-career graduate students) come together to present their research, to get feedback from peers, to discuss new directions, and to initiate collaborations. The FOSD Meeting is very discussion-oriented. There will be no formal proceedings. The program will mainly consist of invited talks by the participants, plenary discussions as well as discussions in smaller groups. We will also have up to three keynote speakers to deliver motivational speeches about current research topics. FOSD 2026 takes place at the University of Southern Denmark (https://www.sdu.dk/en) at the Odense Campus. For food and beverages (lunches, breaks, dinners) and social events, each participant will be required to contribute to the planned expenses when finally registering. Dear all, Please check whether all your activities and publications from 01.08.2024 - 31.07.2025 are included. Be very mindful of the timeframe: Activities * For Scientific Boards and Steering Committee, you must be a member during the timeframe above. * For Conference Chairing and Organization, Program Committees, Reviewing Acitivities, the conference must take place in the timeframe above.* * For Presentations, the presentation must have been held in the timeframe above (ex.: at a conference during that timeframe). * Even for the longer activities such as reviewing, we need a cut-off date to decide if the activity is included in the current report or the report of the next academic year. This is why we use the conference date/journal publishing date, since this makes things very clear.
