You are right in my case there isn't one. Well, I subclassed it to add an instance variable to it but as soon as I hit the reply button to answer you I remembered that I could put it in properties instead. But anyway it is a personal choice how to do it so offering subclasses in the configuration is a good idea.Integrating the change is a no-brainer.
The question is why you feel the need to subclass the kernel? I've
never seen anybody doing this.
