SI Newsletter November 2025
*SI Newsletter - November 2025*
Dear SI Members
We are looking forward to an interesting few months, with both events from our SI event series on Digital Resilience which will accompany us in the lead-up to SITC 2026 and events from our SIGs. Take a look and join us to give your input and further the discussion. Don't miss out on the Software Engineering (SE) conference in February 2026 in particular. You now have the chance to submit papers for their workshops during the event, a great opportunity to make your voice heard!
Enjoy and kind regards,
The SI Team

APL Labs by Swiss APL User Group SAUG
The SI Group SAUG is holding regular APL Labs at the Hotel Kreuz in Jona https://swissinformatics.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a05d9d95f5ff96dcd8cab7446&id=bfe8588908&e=bb1b60b45b. With presentations on various APL topics, the group discusses and explores various applications of APL. APL (A Programming Language) was originally conceived as a mathematical/logical notation, developed in the 1960s by Kenneth E. Iverson, a young Harvard lecturer, but came to be used as a programming language. The power of APL operators/functions is due to their automatic data structure penetration and special operators. This eliminates the need for many control structures. Nested data structures (nested arrays) were added with the 2nd APL generation, making it the ideal tool to process data from relational databases where SQL reaches its limits.
The next APL Lab will have a presentation on "Conway's Game of Life" by Hans Peter Moser. It will be held on *November 12th* in German. Interested members are welcome to listen in on the presentation and join the discussion, starting at 17:00.
SecTalk: Securitycultureandthehumanfactor– anunderestimatedcontributiontocybersecurity?

International Software Engineering Winter School on Hybrid and Generative Intelligence in Bern
The International Software Engineering Winter School on Hybrid and Generative Intelligence will be held on *24th – 28th November 2025* in Bern, Switzerland, as part of the EU-funded InnoGuard Project. This inaugural Winter School brings together academic and industrial researchers, along with Ph.D. students, to explore cutting-edge topics at the intersection of Software Engineering, Hybrid Intelligence, and Generative AI, with a special focus on Large Language Models (LLMs) and their transformative role in next-generation software systems. This Winter School provides a unique platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, skill development, and exposure to industry applications, fostering the next generation of researchers in hybrid and generative software engineering. Funding from the Hasler Foundation will support travel, accommodation, inclusive participation, and the execution of the social and industrial engagement day, ensuring broad access and high-impact outcomes.
