Indeed, I get a similar result on ArgoUML 0.34:

With progress bar: 102677ms

Without progress bar:  76793ms

About 25% speedup.

Let's try to build a little infrastructure for loading without a progress. FMMSEParser already supports basicRun. We should have a support at the level of the MooseModel for using it.
