Is this really equivalent? Because the download is read-only so even if I have GitFileTree I cannot easily just pick it up and start changing it; and if I wanted to I would have to unload everything a reload it from local repositories with locks (that's what I do anyways... and I have just four repositories; having tens of repositories (Moose?) seems messy; or maybe I'm just using the most painful way available..
