Actions can be mapped either on the contextual menu, on a shortkey on the selection (selectionAct: ...) or on the toolbar (act: ...).
You can also take a look at the examples from GLMBasicExamples. For example:
GLMBasicExamples new staticAndDynamicMenu openOn: $z
It depends on the issue you have. If you want to have a search, then right now we only achieve this through a separate dialog. You can see an example in GTCoder.
